Elron/Faned Awards

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Come help celebrate the worst in SF & science (Elron Awards), and the best in Canadian SF Zines (FanEd Awards).

The Elron Awards (‘Elrons’ for short) are fandom’s oldest ‘spoof’ awards. The emphasis is on humour; the intent being gentle japes designed to raise chuckles, not hackles. Previous winners of the coveted ‘bronzed lemons’ include authors, organizations, TV shows, films, well-known fans and, most infamous of all, John Norman, author of the ‘Gor’ novels, who has won over thirty times since the Elrons were first awarded at VCON 1 in 1971’

The ‘Faneds,’ or the CFF Awards (Canadian Fanzine Fanac Awards), celebrate traditional Canadian fanzines (printed on paper and/or available online in pdf form identical to the paper issue). There are five categories of awards: Best Fan Artist, Best Fan Writer, Best Letter Writer, Best Fanzine & Hall of Fame. Winners receive a certificate (designed by Taral Wayne) detailing his or her particular achievement.

To check on your Canadian SF Fanzine heritage, go to www.cdnsfzinearchive.org

Note: ‘Fanac’ is a fannish slang term for ‘fannish activity.’
